Was Neil Abercrombie at Obama's birth or not?

The septuagenarian progressive governor of Hawaii claims to have been a buddy of Barack Obama's parents when the president was born and wants to set the record straight on Obama's birth location. Problem is Abercrombie's statements are inconsistent.

Amplify’d from news.yahoo.com

HONOLULU – Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie wants to find a way to release more information about President Barack Obama's Hawaii birth and dispel conspiracy theories that he was born elsewhere.

Abercrombie was a friend of Obama's parents and knew him as a child, and is deeply troubled by the effort to cast doubt on the president's citizenship.

"What bothers me is that some people who should know better are trying to use this for political reasons," Abercrombie told the Los Angeles Times last week. "Maybe I'm the only one in the country that could look you right in the eye right now and tell you, 'I was here when that baby was born.'"

Abercrombie was unavailable for additional comment Tuesday because he was vacationing on Maui, Dela Cruz said.

Abercrombie, 72, has said he remembers seeing Obama as a child with his parents at social events, although he acknowledged that he didn't see his parents with their newborn son at the hospital.

Who will rid me of this meddlesome ethanol mandate?

That's what Henry II might have said about the ethanol mandate. Even Algore thinks it's a crock! But it's the perfect example of a law with terrible effects that will not go away no matter how many people starve because of it.

When Al Gore drops an environmental fad, it has truly reached its expiration date.

In his wisdom, the Goracle recently acknowledged what almost all disinterested observers concluded long ago: Ethanol is a fraud. It has no environmental benefits, and harmful side effects. The subsidies that support its use are an object lesson in the incorrigibility of Washington's gross special-interest politics. It is the monster that ate America's corn crop.

Recession isn't over: Kids are asking Santa for necessities, not toys

American kids know what's going on in their families even if the government doesn't. That's why so many letters to Santa this year include pleas like "a job for daddy" or "a new winter coat for mommy." Here we thought stories like this disappeared after the Great Depression, but it looks like the people in charge have brought those days back again.

Amplify’d from www.usatoday.com
Santa Claus and his elves are seeing more heartbreaking letters this year as children cite their parents' economic troubles in their wish lists.

U.S. Postal Service workers who handle letters addressed to Santa at the North Pole say more letters ask for basics — coats, socks and shoes — rather than Barbie dolls, video games and computers.

At New York City's main post office, Head Elf Pete Fontana and 22 staff elves will sort 2 million letters in Operation Santa, which connects needy children with "Secret Santas" who answer their wishes.

Fontana, a customer relations coordinator for the Postal Service, has been head elf for 15 years.

"The need is greater this year than I've ever seen it," he says. "One little girl didn't want anything for herself. She wanted a winter coat for her mother."

The joke that became true - President Clinton redux

It was so disconcerting to see Bill Clinton take over the presidential podium from Barack Obama the other day. And then Obama stood around looking like Clinton's assistant until he decided he had to run off because otherwise his wife would be mad. Is Obama the President or just a hen-pecked husband?

Compare to this satirical piece from winter 2008.

Obama Names Bill Clinton to Presidential Post

WASHINGTON DC - Ending weeks of speculation and rumors, President-Elect Barack Obama today named Bill Clinton to join his incoming administration as President of the United States, where he will head the federal government's executive branch.

"I am pleased that Bill Clinton has agreed to come out of retirement to head up this crucial post in my administration," said Obama. "He brings a lifetime of previous executive experience as Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and has worked closely with most of the members of my Cabinet."

SIU searches for non-Christian yet religious music to "celebrate" Christmas

Click through to watch the video for a full understanding of the idiocy at work here. Southern Illinois University has taken both christian and irreligious Christmas music off the clock-tower. Even Jingle Bells was turned off. Instead, SIU is playing very annoying non-melodic chimes until they can find some Kwanzaa, Festivus and Hanukkah music to add into the rotation.

Amplify’d from www.theblaze.com

For nearly 15 years, the Pulliam Hall clock tower on the campus of Southern Illinois University has played Christmas carols. But this year, after a few complaints, the bells have been briefly silenced while the school tries to expand its melodic tradition to include a more diverse selection of music.

The local CBS affiliate reports that SIU administrators agreed Friday to start playing “secular holiday songs” until a more “multi-cultural mix” can be put together that includes songs from other faiths.

World's smartest economists at Cancun summit sign petitions to ban H20, punish US populace

In a prank that demonstrated that attendees at the Cancun climate summit, the cream of the crop of the world-wide environmental science movement, are both vicious and dumb as a box of rocks, they eagerly signed petitions to ban di-hydrogen monoxide (water) and hack away 6% of the US economy with punitive tariffs.

In a Penn & Teller-style prank, CFACT asked attendees of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Cancun, Mexico, to sign two different petitions. The first asked participants to support the purposeful destabilization of the United States economy:

And to prove that some people will sign anything that has the right buzz words — think “global effort,“ ”international community,“ and ”planetary” — COP 16 participants were asked to sign in support of a ban on a dangerous chemical compound: water.

TSA took her son away

Resentment has been building up ever since TSA began its petty tyranny in airports all over the US. Now that TSA security theater has been proven again and again to be worthless at catching and stopping terrorists but very good at terrorizing innocent citizens who everyone can tell are not terrorists simply by talking to them for 30 seconds, the American people are boiling over with rage at TSA. TSA is the embodiment of the big government tyranny that Obama and other Democrats want to use to regulate the US economy and populace. TSA is the model for every other piece of big government that faces us, from the Health Care Highjack to the New Financial Regulations. It's true that TSA was created when George W. Bush was president, but Democrats were the ones who forced all airport screening to be done by the government instead of by private companies. They probably were angry that Halliburton or Blackwater might get the work, and wanted the work to be done by union drones who would funnel money to Democrat campaign funds instead. Well, now TSA is being unionized so they are getting their wish.

Is TSA the model of the US's future that you and everyone you know want? Or is it the warning of the doom that lies ahead if we don't change direction?

Amplify’d from www.mybottlesup.com

4 female TSA agents stood at the end of 2 conveyor belts, gloves on their hands, none of them searching anyone, none of them doing anything but watching luggage pass through the conveyor belts.

It was at this point in time that I realized my flight was leaving in less than 45 minutes. I had not even been searched yet. I began to panic.

Through the 6 holes in the plastic box that contained Jackson and I, I began asking for help. I waved to all 4 female TSA agents, each of them looked at me and then looked away. Then I started speaking through the 6 holes, and said, “Can someone please search me? My flight leaves in less than 45 minutes.”

Each of the 4 women answered me using the same exact phrase…

Ma’am you need to wait. I don’t care about your departure time.

The female agent then called an older gentleman, also a TSA agent over. The male TSA agent stood in front of me and said “I’m going to have to pat down your son.

With Jackson still sitting in my lap (he was being so good despite all of this chaos) I said ok and continued to hold on to my son, expecting the male TSA agent to start touching Jackson.

He then told me, “I’m going to have to pick him up to inspect him.”

I handed him my son.

I handed him my son and he walked away with my child.

My eyes welled up with tears, I stood up from my chair and I asked the female TSA agent, “Where is he going? Where is he taking my child? Why is he leaving?”

Jackson, while being whisked away looked at the male TSA agent awkwardly and repeated “no no no no.

Inflation is Here

The spin-meisters in charge of computing the CPI claim that prices haven't gone up, but everyone who buys groceries knows they have. Milk has gone up. Cornmeal and flour have gone up. Eggs went up. Cheese and meat doubled in the last two years. Even beer and wine are more. But the CPI is stagnant, even declining.

If you can accept the truth of what you see with your own eyes at the grocery store, then maybe you are ready to understand how inflation works.

Step 1: Print more money.

Weimar

Bread costs more, now, and so does milk and meat. Gasoline is a bit higher; a chain reaction has started, and now everything is higher-priced. What isn’t getting more “dear” probably will be soon.

Why? Well, part of it goes with rising petroleum prices. In particular, gasoline has gone up, and that often has an immediate impact on grocery staples such as grain products. After all, farming is gasoline-intensive—and your supermarket could only absorb so much on its own before it had to pass some of those increased prices on to you. Recession or no recession.

Earmark Donor States | Cato @ Liberty

Cato Institute studies those states that receive more in federal funds than they contribute in taxes and finds Mississippi gets 11x as much as it pays out. Cato claims this seems to be because smaller states and more rural states receive more earmarks than more populous states. But Nebraska pays almost as much compared to the amount it gets back as Illinois and California and more than New York, and it's both small and rural. The explanation must be the flood of federal dollars that flowed into the state after Hurricane Katrina.

That said, I bet Mississippians would gladly agree to stop taking so many earmarks if we would never have to get walloped by the most destructive Hurricanes ever. We'll have to get rid of our porker Senators, of course, but I suspect we're about as fed up with the Congress of thieves as are people of every other state.

Of Tea Parties, Tempests, and Teapots

The Tea Party Patriots and the Claremont Institute both scheduled shindigs to welcome the Freshman class of Republicans to Washington DC on the same day, at overlapping times. It's a classic tempest in a teapot. Leaving aside hurt feelings, territoriality and resentments it's important to make a few points. First, after Republicans won a historic victory on November 2, 2010, it's critical for those Congressmen and women who actually get to vote during the Lame Duck session to come out of the gate strategically smart enough and united enough to defeat the Socialist Democrats and their destructive agenda. Most freshmen are not in the Lame Duck congress, but have a few months to get their feet on the ground.
Second, I'm sure that newly elected Senators and Representatives who owe their victory to Tea Party voters and donors are thankful to the Tea Parties for their assistance. It would only be polite to show up at the Tea Party event and shake some hands.
Third, the Tea Party event is more likely to emphasize the principles and values that unite We the People with our Republican public servants than the Claremont event, which will be full of lobbyists looking for "friends" to help them get favorable tax treatment and earmarks. If our newly elected Representatives and Senators don't already share our Tea Party principles and values, they aren't going to learn them at one Tea Party event. So it won't be the end of the world if they attend Claremont's event. On the contrary, they may make valuable alliances at either or both events.
Fourth, We the People will respect our public servants according to what they do in Congress, not according to whose shindigs they attend.
Fifth, We the People are watching what the 112th Congress does on the job. If they remember what the phone lines and fax machines were like during the Obamacare cramdown, that's what it will be like from now on.
I will finish up with a note to the 112th Congress.

We surround you. That isn't just a slogan, it's a fact. We the People outnumber you.
You are not our masters, but our servants. You represent us.
An awake and aware citizenry watching everything you do in Congress is the new normal. Don't forget why you were sent to Congress, to restore and secure the individual freedoms of We the People. You were not sent to get your fair share of goodies for your district, your friends, your family, yourself, or campaign donors. You were sent to restore freedom to the land, to peel away thousands of pages of harmful regulation and taxation, to de-fund and dissolve departments that don't work or that work to destroy American business and oppress the American people, and to begin a long lifetime's worth of work of reducing the oppressive, leviathan U.S. Government to its Constitutional limits.

Why do Intellectuals Hate Profits, Business and the Free Market?

This is an old article but it still rings true. It begins like this:

"The intellectual has never felt kindly toward the market place: to him it has always been a place of vulgar men and of base motives. Whether this intellectual was an ancient Greek philosopher, who viewed economic life as an unpleasant necessity which should never be allowed to become obtrusive or dominant, or whether this intellectual is a modern man, who focuses his scorn on gadgets and Madison Avenue, the basic similarity of view has been pronounced."

2010 Vote Fraud: What to Look For

Disingenuous denials aside, there is a lot of vote fraud going on this election cycle. If you are interested in stopping vote fraud instead of promoting it or pretending it doesn't exist, read through this article by an attorney formerly with the US DOJ voting rights section.

Amplify’d from pajamasmedia.com

There’s been lots of talk about voter fraud this election season. Already machines have purportedly preselected candidates and in other places, documents demonstrate non-citizens are registered to vote. Anyone who says voter fraud doesn’t exist has no credibility. I’ve covered elections for over 10 years. I’ve seen it over and over again with my own eyes. I’ve proved it in federal court. It is significantly more common than Sasquatch.

But what does voter fraud look like? What can citizens be on the lookout for when they participate in their election? Let me share some examples:

Democrat Party Vote Thieves from 2008 are back in 2010

Hillbuzz is all over it. This is a good section, but really the whole article is worth reading.

Amplify’d from hillbuzz.org

If you have not seen it already, Rush, you need to watch Gigi Gaston’s documentary “We Will Not Be Silenced 2008″.  I’m featured in a segment on the voter fraud that was committed in the Iowa Caucus back in January of 2008.  While I was always aware Democrats use unions and other means to cheat in elections, I never knew the Democrat Party was capable of the large-scale, aggressive, unapologetic fraud it committed on Obama’s behalf all through 2008.  In Iowa, I watched Obama’s ACORN and SEIU goons push and shove old people, bully them, and intimidate them when they wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton.  I saw scores of Illinois license plates fill the parking lots outside caucus locations, with Chicagoland Obama supporters illegally entering the Caucus sites to vote for Obama and game Iowa for him.  Having planned ahead, Obama supporters actually RAN those caucus sites, and held the doors open for all these fraudulent voters to walk right in, without being asked for IDs, where they then took control of the caucuses and bullied the Iowa residents into supporting Obama — lest they be called RAAACISTS! out in the open in front of their friends and neighbors in those open-air caucuses.

The media has never talked about this.  I don’t remember ever hearing you talk about it.  But one of the biggest reasons the Democrats are in the trouble they’re in right now is because of how frequently the Left and the media (one and the same, really) called anyone who opposed Obama a RAAACIST.  If you supported Hillary Clinton in the primaries instead of Obama, you were called a RAAACIST.  If you were someone like me who fundraised for Hillary, who hosted events for her, who put yourself out there and wrote columns advocating her or did media spots talking up her candidacy, you were aggressively targeted by the Obama campaign and his supporters…relentlessly attacked as a RAAACIST! and assaulted with the Alinksy Rules for Radicals in hopes of breaking your spirit, terrorizing you, and making you abandon Clinton for fear of having these people destroy your life, ruin your business, and make you an absolute pariah in your community.

This is what the Obama campaign, the media, and the DNC did to DEMOCRATS.

Why did Anita Hill really testify against Clarence Thomas?

A remarkable analysis of the facts of the case, including some that were covered up and obscured by the Senate committee, and incorporating back story about the movies students typically watched and talked about in law school in the 1970s. Summary, Anita Hill was provoked by promises of anonymity into testifying against Clarence Thomas, then faced with a choice between repudiating her testimony and destroying her own reputation or doubling down and dragging Clarence Thomas's name through the mud. We know what she chose.

And we also know that in the end, her career after that testimony has not been exemplary while Thomas's has.

Juan Williams Was Fired from NPR Because He’s a Liberal and They’re Leftists

The Democratic Party of JFK is no more. Now you have the Democratic Party of Saul Alinsky, Herbert Marcuse and Antonio Gramsci. This is why NPR would fire its best reporter for the thoughtcrime of appearing on FNC.

Amplify’d from www.newsrealblog.com

Scientists estimate that more than 99% of the species that have ever existed on this planet are now extinct. Some species simply adapted into others. Some were obliterated in mass die-offs. Others could not adapt to changing environments. And more recently, others were hunted to death.

Within the jungle of American politics, one animal has been in steady decline for the past thirty years: the liberal. After the shot fired last week at Juan Williams by his former employer NPR, this trend should be even more apparent.

Williams is not a leftist. He’s a liberal in the tradition of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. (Just take a look at the books he’s written on the Civil Rights Movement.) He’s not an Obama leftist who drank from the cup of Saul Alinsky, Billy Ayers, and Jeremiah Wright.

A “liberal” properly defined is someone in the middle of the political spectrum — an individual open-minded to different ideas and willing to consider all manner of solutions. That’s what Williams is. That’s why he’s willing to appear on Fox News regularly. And that’s why genuine leftists from Glenn Greenwald to Media Matters are throwing him under the bus. (Leftists hate genuine liberals even more than they hate conservatives.

Williams wasn’t really fired for his mild comments. That was just the tipping point. Really NPR could not handle him being a genuine liberal by going on Fox News. From Williams’ column:

I say an ideological battle because my comments on “The O’Reilly Factor” are being distorted by the self-righteous ideological, left-wing leadership at NPR. They are taking bits and pieces of what I said to go after me for daring to have a conversation with leading conservative thinkers. They loathe the fact that I appear on Fox News. They don’t notice that I am challenging Bill O’Reilly and trading ideas with Sean Hannity. In their hubris they think by talking with O’Reilly or Hannity I am lending them legitimacy. Believe me, Bill O’Reilly (and Sean, too) is a major force in American culture and politics whether or not I appear on his show.

Years ago NPR tried to stop me from going on “The Factor.” When I refused they insisted that I not identify myself as an NPR journalist. I asked them if they thought people did not know where I appeared on the air as a daily talk show host, national correspondent and news analyst. They refused to budge.

Liberal intolerance costs Juan Williams his job

Liberal intolerance bites Juan Williams in the pocketbook. Why is it that liberals complain, harass, and boycott whenever they hear opinions that aren't identical to theirs? The answer is partisan tolerance, by which theory tolerance of liberals is good but tolerance of conservatives is evil, as proposed by Herbert Marcuse in the 60s and used by liberals ever since as the reason why they speak and act hatefully towards conservatives while claiming to be fighting hate speech (as seen in every campus visit by Ann Coulter). This is also why they can act with the vilest types of misogyny toward conservative women while claiming to be feminists (see Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Christine O'Donnell, Michele Malkin, Michelle Bachman, Maggie Thatcher, even Ginni Thomas).

Of course what this really boils down to is dehumanization. While hiding behind the fancy political theories from the socialist Marcuse Liberals simply demonize and dehumanize their political rivals. In this way they don't have to play fair. They just assume their opponents are demonic and inhumane and claim conservatives are guilty of all sorts of evil practices. That gives them the excuse to do whatever they want, which is generally exactly what they claim their rivals are doing, and is the moral justification for their ends justify the means thinking.

In this situation, Juan Williams was fired by a government funded news organization for political speech that didn't agree with the official government position. Seems kind of like a violation of the first amendment to me, but what do I know? I'm no Elliot "Client No. 9" Spitzer, or Barack Obama, after all. I just happen to have read the plain language of the amendment today and it sure seems applicable.

NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel.

The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill O’Reilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a “Muslim dilemma.” Mr. O’Reilly said, “The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.”

Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. O’Reilly.

He continued: “I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Myth 1: Everyone understands what a “green job: is.

Fact 1: No standard definition of a “green job” is set.

Myth 3: Green jobs forecasts are reliable.

Fact 3: The green jobs studies estimates using poor economic models based on uncertain assumptions.

Myth 5: The world economy can be remade by reducing trade and relying on local production and reduced consumption without dramatically decreasing out standard of living.

Fact 5: Learning from the past; history shoes that individual nations cannot product everything their people want or need. Every country possesses different talents that allow specialization in products and services which in turn lowers costs for producers and makes them more efficient.

Every single one of these innovative technologies was produced by capitalist companies operating in a free market. None of them came from governments. And yet we have government leaders and an entire political party devoted to demonizing capitalism and promoting more government red-tape as the answer to every government-caused problem.

Democrats Plan to Force Non-Union Members to Join Unions, Pay Dues that fund Democrat Campaigns

Americans all across the country in right-to-work states don't have to join unions if they don't want to. In non-right-to-work states if the union takes control of their workplace they can be fired for not paying union dues. Democrats are planning to make all 50 states non-right-to-work states. If this happens, then workers will not have the opportunity to stay out of a union. The union will organize, and those who don't want to join the union or whom the union dislikes will not be able to keep their jobs.

Democrats and Unions HATE Right-To-Work States, because in those states workers are free to join the union OR NOT. And that choice is one that Democrats and Unions do not believe American Workers should be allowed to make. Anti-Choice: Who would have expected that?!

Amplify’d from www.redstate.com

Currently, there are 22 states in the U.S. that have laws where workers who are employed at companies that are unionized have a choice whether or not to join or pay the union.  These states are known as Right-to-Work states.

On the other hand, in the 28 Non-Right-to-Work states (also called forced-dues states), it is legal for a union to negotiate a “union (income) security clause” that requires all workers covered by the union to pay the union dues or ‘agency fees’ as a condition of employment.  If the workers refuse to pay the union, under a “union (income) security clause,” the union can have them fired from their jobs.

As background, in 1947, Congress amended the National Labor Relations Act with the Taft-Hartley Amendments which, among other things, gave states the right to establish “Right-to-Work” laws.  Until the Taft-Hartley Amendments, from 1935 to 1947, private-sector workers in all 50 could be required to pay dues to a union or, if not, be fired from their jobs. The ability of states to have Right-to-Work laws is contained in a single paragraph within the National Labor Relations Act (Section 14 [b]), which states:

(b) [Agreements requiring union membership in violation of State law] Nothing in this Act [subchapter] shall be construed as authorizing the execution or application of agreements requiring membership in a labor organization as a condition of employment in any State or Territory in which such execution or application is prohibited by State or Territorial law.

As a result of this one section being inserted into the 1947 amendments, states (through their legislatures) could determine whether or not to be a Right-to-Work state, or a forced-dues state.  Therefore, the removal of this one section would make all 50 states forced-dues states, giving unions the ability to have workers fired for not paying union dues or fees.
